Tyres - MO Fitment

Happy Friday,

Have just got back from a drive in the car where it seemed like evry corner would be my last, turns out the tyres are scrubbed.

I've just got off the phone to the local tyre place and they have been able to source some Conti SportContact 5 tyres for the rear but they are "MO" fitment. The chap at the tyre place tells me this is a marking designation and the BMW "fitment" would be a star on the tyre side wall.

Does anyone know if MO is genuinely OK..? and if it is ok, is there likely to be any repercussions to fitting them without the "star"..?

Thanks!

MO is a Mercedes specific tyre, could mean it's a little softer in sidewall for Mercedes comfort levels. Whether you'd see or feel a difference I couldn't possibly guess.

The star is only a recommendation. Same as the fuel & oil you put in the car.

I accidentally had N3 Porsche spec PS2s fitted at one point and the only real difference was how soft they were compared to bog standard PS2s that I took off, so that instead of 12-14k miles I got about 6k miles.

When I took them off I got a good price on my first set of PSS (due to the tyre fitter's error above), there was no star designation and thus 'not approved' by BMW.

The OE Conti SportContact M3 tyres had a star, but those tyres were nothing to write home about.
