Tyres - Health Risk ?

Been a while since I asked a bizarre question, so here goes.. Do your worst

I had my 224s shod with new rubber today - they look ace, all ready to go on. Though the opposing tread patterns on the Vreds caused me a few minutes of angst with the fitter. Totally weird. Anyway, they are currently stacked in my office due to lack of space anywhere else... This means I can gaze at them every time I go in and out of the room :D

However, they are a bit smelly as all new tyres are, and I've had a reasonably low level but persistent headache since lunchtime - not long after they were brought back in all dressed up.

So my question is - is it possible that the 'fumes' (for want of a better word) are giving me the headache :?

I had my winter tyres in my office for a bit and made me sick as a pig ...

Bugger. Best keep the door closed and the window open then - can't have the family being affected as the bedrooms are nearby :(

On the plus side, I absolutely must get the wheels on this weekend now

I didn't get taught about tyres at med school. However if this is the link you have made to your new onset headache then likely that's them causing. Probably best to move them.

Did they teach you anything about the potential side-effects of fresh rubber Ruby ? :D

I don't know where to put them though, no space :x

Worked for Pirelli in Carlisle on the shop floor with no problems
Maybe just bloody soft office workers who have this problem :fuelfire: :poke:

Stick them out in the garden mate

Watch my for sale thread shortly of brand new tyres which I nicked out of his garden as I know where he lives

I've just googled (that great doctor's resource) "tyre smell health risk" Bing you might want to do the same followed by moving your tyres outdoors.

Perhaps it is better if he kicks the family out in the garden instead :D

Still alive, headache gone :D

The only thing I got from googling was that burning tyres are not very healthy. My tyres were not burning last time I checked, and nor are they near any sources of ignition so I'm happy with closing the door. As for putting them outside... I think the family will end up outside first
