Hi,

Looking at Falken 452's or Eagle F1's.

Big cost difference between the two for me, and the Eagles look hard to get as well, not seen many around.

I also wondered if there was any difference in protection for kerbing etc on each?

I have 18" 108's, so wanted to protect them.

I'm pretty set on the Falken's as they seem to have a good write up on here. any thoughts?

Hi,

Tried Camskill for them, but no avail. Any other online places worth looking at?

I have 452's and rim protection is crap, but I wouldnt trust any tyre rim protection and always use dipped mirrors when parking to ensure I'm not to close to the kerb.

+1

Tyres aren't meant to be used as a parking aid! Regardless of rim protection I wouldn't be guessing at where the kerb is. BTW I'm on 452s too.

Falkens and no kerbing - yet...

I doubt any moulding will protect such low profile tyres on kerbs and relying on it will result in more damage than worrying and thus thinking about parking distances.

I usually always use the passenger mirror too but after a long drive home on auto pilot, the F1s have saved my immaculate alloys twice now. The scuffs were clearly visible on the tyre lip but not the rims, so it's a huge thumbs up to rim protectors from me.

I go through tyres due to the high mileage that I do each year, the last set was from this site and they were fitted locally, service was very good

Hope this helps and good luck

Got my new KU31's fitted at the weekend and what a difference they make to the ride, not taken them out for a blast yet but the grip seems way above what the oem bridgestones had.
Only done about 80miles so far but am seriously impressed, will see how they go when they are fully scrubbed in.
Cost £419 fully fitted, for 4.

These, if anyone is interested http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpP8kU2MNEY

I have FK452 on my 108s and although happy I've got F1 Asymmetric going on my newly recon 107's this week.

I bought from Mytyres. Camskill now charge postage, and didn't have the fronts in stock, and all in Mytyres were about £12 more than Camskill.

I'm hoping they will last a little longer than the FK452, but I won't be so worried if they don't. I will look forward to the rim protection improvements because all said and done more rubber there is a good thing. The OEM RE050 RFT have LOADS and it is handy to have there... I don't plan on using it but it's nice to have...

Dunno what to say really. I'll know more when I get the wheels on with the new tyres and give it a drive :D (just hoping they are on the right way around and widers on the wider wheels when I pick up haha)

Hi,

Going for A1's. Unfortunately camskill are out of the 225's and no other site sells them from what I have seen, including blackskills.

Hopefully camskill will get them soon, they also seem nice and well, cheapish, so i dont think anyone else out there could beat them anyway.

There website was useless tbh.

My tyres are about £4 more after postage considerations, than Camskill, and have no issues sending me mine.

Interstingly the fronts came from Germany shipment location, the rears from the Netherlands as far as I can tell :)

Will try mytyres.

Interesting the 225's are not being made at the moment as there was a problem in the german factory. A few weeks of delay I have been told.

Ah ok. My Tyres probably have a small supply, but it seems places like Camskill ran out.

Plenty seem to have them, they are just not the cheapest places... but when you are paying ~ £520 for a set anyway, £10 more isn't really a big worry imho... well not for me, I just want to get new tyres on at this time of year as the FK452 don't seem to like being low at the back in the snow/rain :D
