Was at a "secondhand"tyre place in Cheltenahm today getting a repair on a puncture, parked in the bay was an E89 rolling 19"s.

Unusual but getting part worn tyres on three wheels !

Rears were 255/30/19 and 255/35/19

Fronts were 225/35/19 and 235/35/19

And the shop allowed them to drive away with one run flat and three normal tyres !

What's your opinion on this situation ? Is it legal is it safe should someone have said something, apart from I tried to explain it wasn't safe but the owner just wanted to go and find an mot station !

Sad... Poor E89. Not safe and probably an MOT failure.

Mixing tyre brands (front and back) is bad enough but apparently fine. Mixing brands left and right is a no-no. Mixing rft, non-rft and size... Just pure stupidity

Was it the owner or perhaps a less reputable car dealer getting it ready for a sale and minimizing expenditure? Either way just plain stupid

The owner had had the car for more than two years and said they had used the same secondhand tyre dealer since they got the car. Looking at the way the tyres and wheels sat in the arches I really thought that maybe the wheels had been swapped one side front to rear.

I tried to point her to this forum to get advice but not sure she has appeared yet.

I do have the details of the car but not going to make it public as it's not my place to do so.

Yes, I that as you know the owner then you could maybe try diplomatically to get her to visit a reputable tyre dealer for some independent advice.

I only met the owner in the tyre shop, I am not from the area but tried to explain just how dangerous it is on a 2.3is ?....

Scary really three non run flats one run flat and no jack or wheel brace. And worse no real understanding of what their problem really is.

Oh right. Maybe a nudge to the police isn't such a bad idea. Tyre shop and/or owner...
