OK, I've got new Bridgestone Potenza 050A's on the front (new - not my choice) and Michelin Pilot Sports on the rear which are coming towards the end of their life.
I fancy either PS3's on the rear and concentrate on wearing the fronts down early........and then replace all with super sports when they come in stock size- (255/40/ZR18).

Or go cheap (VREDs which work great on my 330iCi) and wait for the arrival of Pilot Super Sports all round.

Gotta say that at the moment I don't perceive the handling as compromised. Plus I intend to wear winter tyres come the freezy.

I would like to minimise the "throw money at it" solutions if at all poss, Ta.
 
If the front Bridgestones still have thread on them why not install the same model on the rear axle? Then you can swap all 4 with something new later down the line.
 
If the fronts are new, then you're looking at about 15-20k before they'll need replacing.

You could sell the Bridgestones and go for one type all round, or simply put the same Bridgestones on the rear and then do a 4-wheel change in a year's time when the rears are worn.
 
... or if the fronts still have lots of tread sell the fronts now as used tyres to offset the cost of replacing all 4 now. There's always people wanting to buy decent used runflats so why wait to wear them out?

The RE050 are available in non-runflats as well. It's probably them seeing as he has an M.

They're not a bad tire the Bridgestones, Renault broke the front wheel drive record on the Nurburgring with a Megane 265 Trophy on RE050s.
 
pilot super sport is an amazing high end "street" tyre. When it comes to tyres imo you get what you pay for, definatly spend the little extra and get the best you can afford.

If you want to go cheap I would go for the Falken 452. I've been happy with my set to date on normal and fast road use (no track use)
 
Just to wrap this up. I fitted Bridgestone Potenza 050A (Non RFT)'s to the rears as well. After a 1000miles or so I have to say I'm quite impressed. They grip well, seem to offer good rim protection and look fine. Only problem was that in 99Y they weren't cheap (£265 each) and took a while to source. Thanks for the input.
 
VREDs rock... they also have amazing wet weather grip. Had them on mine for over 6 months and really pleased.
 
I also rate the Vredesteins the best tyre,bar none (I've tried;inc goodyr/dunlops/michelins/bridgestones,etc,etc).
they seem to grip fer better in the wet than most others/especially when they are starting to get worn,as i used to find the Bridgestones loose grip eassily in wet ,when down to around 3-4mm,and my vreds are down to around 2mm on rear,and still grip well. :D :driving:
 
Do the vreds offer the same rim protection as the bridgestone run flats? Ready to ditch the rf.'s but still not sure which others to try :headbang:
