Tyremen glitch.. Pilot super sports

damn... if they had honored that price i would have bought a set of 19's for my VMR, 18's for my 108's that i will never use and 17's for winter wheels i dont yet own, and probably never will :o

Just spoke to Phill, seems a very decent bloke so thought it was only fair for me to order my tyres through them. Vreds on their way :driving:

 good choice I reckon. I had ordered some myself yesterday before all this glitch kicked off
Used mytyres- rears were £164 out of interest how much did you pay??

It was a set price but probably works out exactly the same as you paid, apparently mytyres are by far the cheapest for the rears as they are a German company

 Exactamondo!
And myself, for the Coupe, Z4M, Aston Martin Vantage and Golf I'm going to never get :driving:

Just spoke to Phil... again agree sounds a decent bloke & his world imploded this morning.

I could have been difficult but decided to do the decent thing & let him cancel the order.

We all make mistakes, so am trusting in him to be as understanding with the individual who caused this as I have been with him

J

My order has been withdrawn too. Oh well, at least phill was decent about it and not arsey or threatening which would ve resulted in my digging my heels in. Nice enough guy just a shame the deals unable to be honoured. Never mind.......

I'm sure if we act in the correct manner now he will reward us in the future with some great offers

That's what it's all about in these troubled financial times. He's running a business which in itself is admirable thing. To speak personally on the subject and look at doing a future forum discount is in my book the next best happy ending.

If an offer looks too good to be true that's very often because it is.

Well done Phill and look forward to hearing about how we link up as a preferred customer.

So if I understand this correctly, orders were placed with great rapidity for tyres advertised at what was obviously a wildly erroneous price. This was done in clear knowledge that this must be a temporary mistake rather than some fantastic special offer, and that were this price honoured the cost would have to be borne by the company or by an individual to the tune of many thousands of pounds.
Now that the error has been corrected and the orders cancelled (as accepted in the terms and conditions of the contract entered into), there exists an expectation of special discounted rates from this company...

...and we were concerned that Tyremen were potentially trying to scam us

Well probably broadly true :D
however if The Tyremen gets more business from this debacle then they are the winners and sharp pricing is always the key to more business
maybe sponsoring Tyre supplier

ps Buyer has mistrust on their side supplier has Ts&Cs on their's

Phill was a proper genuine guy he said to give him a ring and he would guarantee he would do me the cheapest deal because of the debacle.

Nice guy IMO and I will still recommend them

Thing is, I had never heard of these guys, and now he has the attention of an entire forum, in a very positive light - what's that, potentially 50 or 100 regular UK users who will all bite at a good deal, now or in the future ? AND who will recommend the tyreguys to EVERY new member who comes on here and says 'got a new Z, where's the best place to either ditch these shite RFTs or get better ones ?'.

I understand we may look like we're taking advantage, and we are in a good way - actually from a sales person's perspective this is a perfect opportunity, not least to instantly turn a huge screw up into an overnight success. From what I have seen camskills get the vote of the forum right now - beat them by 10%, which would be about £50 on a set of 4 Falkens, and the tyreguys are sorted.

This is the ultimate in good deals for Tyremen - usually a retailer has to actually sell their loss leaders, not just advertise them :D

Good point guys. I am sure Phill didn't enjoy phoning 20-30 people telling them their order could not be fulfilled. That said, they have gained a great deal from this... lots of folks now know about them, lots of folks on their mailing list etc... I don't think for a second this was a scam but I do think it didn't hurt them.

Never looked like a scam after some standard Google checks. Happy mistake that brought a new essentials supplier to our forum - unlike those other unsolicited attempts by faux forum accounts to sell us something.

Phill - if you're still reading this thread (and if I were you I would be!) then it looks like you have a potentially decent new forum based revenue stream. As Bing says above, Camskill have to date been the prefered partner on all things tyre but it shouldn't take much to better that and hit the No.1 spot.

Hi all,

I just wanted to respond to you all in regard to discounts for members!

Historically we have specialised in winter tyres and winter wheel & tyre packages and although we offered keen prices on niche brands such as Vredestein & Hankook our regular premium car brands were not as keen as the likes of Mr Camskill.

However we are now looking to drive our summer tyre sales and in the next few days will have prices that are amongst the cheapest online. When I spoke to those that placed orders on Wednesday evening I also extended a promise to strive to beat our competition on any tyre needs that they had.

I would like to extend this promise to any Z4 forum user also, best thing to do is give us a call on 08456 807 808, or e-mail [email protected] & don't forget to mention your a member here. Quite often I'll be able to improve on the prices advertised, especially if you give me a shout a week or so before you need them. As an independent tyre supplier we have various buying options and given a bit more time we may be able to trim £10-£15 a tyre off advertised prices!

We're also close to rolling out a fitting network which will help to improve the customer experience.

I hope this helps!

As a sign off I'm going to a product launch for the new Dunlop Sport Max RT next week at the Ascari circuit in Spain. I believe part of the testing involves street driving in Z4's so I'll report back and let you know if I think this is a product worth considering!

Cheers,

Phill.
