Tyre weld for 19 inch tyres

Hi All,

Ive read a few posts about the whole "taking off your run flats" situation, but I have a slight question.

Ive just removed my run flats, and opted to go with the air compressor, tyre weld foam and green flag cover route- mainly because I figured a 19inch alloy will have a hard time fitting in the boot unless its COMPLETELY empty and tbh- mine rarely is.

So here is the dilemma- in Halfords today, I noticed that Holts tyre weld was suitable for tyres up to 16" only. :? :headbang:
Does anyone know of an alternative that will support my larger tyres?

I've heard the slime or puncturesafe isn't really suitable for low profile tyres, unsure if thats true or not so not sure if its the same thinking on using Tyreweld etc.

I would join the AA :)

I carry can of tyre weld, but think having a good electric pump of some sort more valuable.

In fact when i get round to it i will fit a cigar lighter in boot direct to battery, as you can guarantee when you want to use the pump, the normal cigar lighter socket fuse will have blown!

Other than ripping the sidewall out of the tyre on a pothole, most punctures have been screws or bits of metal swarf, resulting in slow release of air.

And thats reminds me, keep meaning to buy another cheap car cover to keep in the boot, just in case i get caught out with a failed roof!
 
BMW make a kit with a small compressor & a large bottle of the sealant for cars without room for a spare tyre.

It's a hundred quid from them, or Continental sell the exact same kit which is available on eBay for around £30.

Called the 'mobility kit' it is really nice quality with good brass fittings & is tiny - that's what a lot of people use that have switched from runflats to normal tyres.

It can fit in the covered stash space at the left of the boot (so not rattling around), relocate the first aid kit (soft bag) to under the passenger seat or behind the seats in the mesh luggage section. Perfect.

This company makes large volume cans for 4x4 and vans / large tyres. It's 450ml instead of 400ml that you have in the holts
