Tyre wear

Tyre indicator came on last week it was down on pressure, pumped it up and its gone down twice since. Took car to tyre centre thinking puncture with nail/bolt etc get it repaired. The tyres were just off the wear indicators, mechanic took wheel off and there was a huge split across 3/4 of the tyre,so I had a pair (rear) put on. They had done 90000 miles,is that normal on these cars or can I expect worse.

When you say "split" what do you mean? I had an issue with my Avon track tyres, where the rears were both opening in a line absolutely perpendicular across the tread. I spoke to Avon and they said it was a manufacturing fault where the tread was wrapped around the carcass. They replaced both free of charge.

yeah 9000 miles.

Ah that's not so amazing. Would hope to get a few more miles than that.

Not heard of any common issues wrt tyres splitting. :?

Take a photo and send it to the manufacturer.
Don't think the manufacturer would give a hoot, as they have no idea how the tyre has been treated.

9000 miles is not that bad if you drive hard - I only got 12000 out of Conti M3 rears when used 90% on motorways.

That is somewhat awful. I was able to mustered out 25k from the OE Conti M3 rears, and I thought that was bad
