There's been a lot of topics / discussions recently regarding tyre sizes, so lets see who's running what tyre sizes on what rims. maybe a comprehensive list will help a few people out :fuelfire:

I'm currently standard

rear - 9j - 255/30/19

Almost the same as Argyll Andy. Same wheels and tyre sizes.

How do you find the 35 profile on the rear? I am thinking of doing this (35i) for comfort reasons.
I was advised by tyre companies that any car with different width front/rear generally has a different profile front to rear so not too sure how to proceed..

Summer:
18" Style 276
front: Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S 225/40ZR18/XL (92Y)
rear: Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S 255/35ZR18/XL (94Y)

Winter:
17" BBS SX (BRILLIANTSILVER)
all: Winter Sottozero 3 Performance Winter / Snow 205/50R17 93V XL (93V)

They're significantly better than the RFT 255/30 rubber bands that the car came on (genuine M performance Style 313s direct from BMW) due to the extra wall height (the 35 is a percentage of the tyre width I believe). The ride comfort is leaps and bounds above a runflat, and I've had no cracked rims *touch wood*.

However, I feel that going slightly wider on the tyre while keeping the same wall depth would be a smidge better due to that extra bit of traction. If it was a perfect world I would have gone for a 265/30, but I think the size is a bit obscure and so attracts obscure prices (think it was £170 for an ultrac vorti instead of ~£100). Overall happy with my choice and would buy them again, and I'd probably only stretch an extra £10er a corner for a 265/30 as I'm really just nitpicking.

Regarding wearing winters over 2 seasons now, I think I would scrap the full winter tyre and go for a cross-climate instead. I think that while traction is far superior to a summer tyre in the dead of winter, the benefits during our almost constant 5 degree and damp situation that we get for the other 10 months of winter just doesn't warrant a skinny winter, and for the majority of our extended autumn period a cross-climate would be a significant improvement, at least in the UK.
