Tyre sizes query

My 2003 3.0 has 225/45/R17's on the front and rear, I'm getting new rears, to replace my worn out run flats. When I checked in the owners manual, it says the fronts are 225/45/R17 and the rears should be 245/40/R17. Is this correct for my car or should I stay with 225/45's on the rear ??

Should my car have wider tyres on the rear than the front, or does it really matter if their the same width ??

I thought most of the Z4s came with a staggered set-up - i.e. wider, lower profile rears.

The only ones I've seen with the same all around have been when using winter tyres.

What alloys have you got fitted ? From that you shoud be able to work out the correct sized tyres .
Or remove 1 front & 1 rear & check them

If these then they should be 4 x 8j so 4 x 225 45 17 would be the ones but 4 x 225 50 would also work .
You could fit the staggered set up if you wanted a wider look to the rears , that would also work without sending figures too far off the scale

I think I will stick with 225/45 then, just won't be run flats
