Tyre Sizes E85

Hi All

Fairly new to the Z4's , i have an 05 3.0 E85.. i have fitted new wishbones and Eibach pro which have made the ride quality much better but feel that a bigger tyre would be next move to help things along, it seems strange the coupes have a slightly bigger tyre than the roadsters

current set up on 18"

225/40/18 18x8
255/35/18 18x8.5 (looks stretched)

and on 19"

225/35/19 18x8.5 (looks stretched) & not much kerb protection
255/30/19 18x9.5 (looks stretched) & no kerb protection

Has anyone replaced to no ill affects to bigger tyres? if so what did you fit?

Plan for the future is

18x8.5 & 18x9.5 daily's

19x7.5 & 19x8.5 Summers

The coupe has the same tyre sizes as the roadster. It's only the M models that have different profiles (45 front, 40 rear).
 
intrested in this subject, want 19"s 8.5 and 9.5 et35 and et 33, dont want stretched tyre look and a decent sidewall for the poor Irish roads

I used to have 235/35-19 on 8,5" ET34. It rubbed like crazy. Needed ajustable camberplates and lots of negative camber to use without rubbing.
Went down to 225/35-19 and now its all good. Also removed the camberplates. Lowered with H&R springs on M-Tech Shocks.

I would recoment sticking with 225 both /40-18 and /35-19.

I'm running 235/35/19 on 8.5" front and 275/30/19 on 9.5" rear, albeit with M offsets. The front is a little tight but there's loads of room at the back and you get a little more rim protection/sidewall height than a standard "CSL size" rear (265/30/19).

On the outside. If you run you finger along the fender edge you can feel a lip sticking out in front just before were the fender meets the front bumper. Was planning of rolling it in, but Im afraid of cracking the paint.

Rear M offsets and 275/30-19 on your non-M Roadster? Then I guess your car is not lowered?

I used my 19"s from my old E91 for storage wheels one winter. This had 275/30-19 Nankang NS2 (crappy tires) on 9,5" ET35. It rubbed slightly on the outside when I really pushed my car in the corners.

thanks for the replies, i am lowered (Eibachs), so looks like its possible with a higher offset wheels which bring the wheel inwards..

Z4MC. ET34 front (spaced) and ET27 rear. It's lowered about 1cm vs stock at the moment. Sounds like there's room (just!) in the rear arches for 275s if the OP wants them.

Car looks awesome, BTW, Stig. Especially like shot with a tsunami in the background. :D :thumbsup:
 
That explains a little ;) I just saw your old roadster in the sig and thought it was on that one.

275 will be no problem as long as the offset is correct. I would say 9,5" ET38 with 275 would fit nicely.
