Tyre replacement company recommendations?

Hi guys,

I was just wondering if any of you in the Burton upon Trent/Derby area could please recommend a good tyre company to either replace tyres or repair punctures?

I unfortunately had a bad experience this morning having a puncture repaired in the rear tyre of my Z4, to find out afterwards that they had left two gouges in the rim of the otherwise mint condition alloy (they'd been powder coated only months earlier, and were literally as new).

So, I'm now unfortunately looking into getting that repaired, but to make matters even worse, I've just discovered that the other rear tyre also has a puncture which I'd not spotted before, and so now I need to find somewhere to take it, who aren't going to cause any damage to the wheel whilst doing the repair. The last thing I want to be looking at is another wheel to have repaired!

So, if any of you have got any recommendations for tyre companies/alloy specialists in the Burton upon Trent/Derby area, I'd be very grateful of your advice?

Thanks for your help,

Russ

I always used to buy tyres online & take them the Elmbridge (Swadlincote) to get them fitted. Always decent as many places are funny about people supplying their own tyres. Had a repair done there too (think it was about £8 or something stupid) & they never marked my wheels over the 5 yrs went to them (only 17"s but projecting spokes looked vulnerable)

Sure there are lots about that are closer to you...

Did you go back & mention the damage?

Check out The Wheel Specialist in Burton on Trent.

I've had 2 full sets of alloys refurbished by them including fitting tyres. They do a great job on repairs/refurbs and whilst I haven't bought new tyres from them I imagine they'll also supply new tyres.

They're not cheap for refurbs but the quality of their work is outstanding.

Tyre Link in Tamworth are excellent.

Just one or two guys in a unit, but he has a super machine (£5000 worth) and is really a pro. - no wheel damage. I get my car and bike done there now after crap service at main tyre agents.

Price is excellent too.

I have used Event Tyres twice now. It's an online company that comes to you (work or home). They use Hofmann tyre fitting machines and wheel balancers in their mobile tyre fitting vehicles, and on their website specifically mention not damaging your alloy wheels (it was this that drew me to use them). They rate well on TrustPilot. Also Number 1 rated on TrustPilot is TyresOnTheDrive. They cover Tamworth. I have never used them but they have great customer feedback.

Do you know when they have there next promotion as I'm in need of some new rears as one of my vreds went pop.

There is a very good company called grippy.co.uk, I've just used them after a recommendation from a friend who is very picky about his cars and couldn't recommend them enough. They were cheaper than every other option and had good service and come to you when you want them to.
