Tyre questions

£79 for two years tyre insurance seems like quite a good deal. If only I had taken that out two weeks ago, it may have more than paid for itself already :!:

I seem to have had several nails/screws in tyres over the last few years, luckily the previous ones were in tyres worth £35 each

Well I got to a tyre fitters first thing this morning and they repaired the tyre for me. £10 instead of hundreds :)
I then managed to get an average of 40mpg on the way to work :o those slow people in the "BMW lane" have their uses

You can only do a limited amount of miles on a deflated run flat. I had one repaired once. They asked me how many miles I had done and at what pressure. 'Be honest it's stupid to lie it's your life, and could be others' They checked the inside of the side wall, and said they would repaire it. Lasted another 5000 miles until now, when I have another nail in it,close to the side. So new tyres today for me.

Yeah, I'm not going to risk a second repair if I get another nail. Infact if any other tyre gets damaged, I'll probably change the lot to some other brand.
The rear tyres are fairly new though and I only went a few town miles after getting the warning light. Then filled it up, it held most of it's pressure when filled again, still had decent pressure this morning as I went a couple miles to the tyre fitter. They seemed to have a decent look at the inside of the tyre whilst it was off, so it should be ok until the time comes for a total change.

I asked them about Falkens and they weren't very positive about fitting non run flats, saying the alloys are a slightly different shape to account for the run flats. They'll fit, but they're not reccomended.
