Tyre profile with lowered car

It's nearly time to get the tyres changed on my 2003 E85 3.0i (107s). I have plans to replace all my suspension parts soon to Bilstein B4 and the Eibach Pro Kit springs. Since I have the M-Sport suspension from factory that should be an additional 15mm drop from all the reading I've done.

I already know I want to go with either the Michelin PS4 or Goodyear Assymetric 5 but I'm wondering if I could go with slightly higher profile without any rubbing.

The plan was 225/45/18 on the front and 245/40/18 on the rear.

What do you think?

If you’re looking at Bilsteins & Eibachs, then the B12 Kit will work out cheaper.

I’d suggest u also think about changing the drop links, tie rod ends & RTAB’s while ur at it

I would say you probably could, but may get some rubbing if you have spacers or intend to fit them.

My Z4 is fitted with Bilstein B4's, eibach springs and 12mm front, 20mm rear spacers and there is clearence, but it's not a massive amount and when the cars loaded up, the back end sits quite low. I know the ride isn't great on the standard tyres, but I've found new tyres with the same sizes make a huge difference to the ride quality, simply due to having more tread.

Wow your car looks amazing ben g! Those wheels in particular look great - you're making me want to get mine sprayed now. Wonder how they'd look on a Maldives...

Alright I think I'll keep the profile the same and see how it rides.

It looks like the B12 kit is the B8 dampers with the Eibach springs right? Bilstein say the B4s are a direct replacement for the OEM part, the B6 has a more "sporty" feel and the B8 is a B6 designed for lowering springs. I'm a little concerned that the sporty feel really just means harsher ride. Would I be correct in thinking this?

I was already thinking about getting bushes and top mounts done at the same time. How important do you think replacing the drop links and tie rod ends is? Just a little worried about rising costs!

Thought I'd follow up on this now I've got my new tyres on.

Everything they say about ditching the run-flats is true. My car feels great to drive now! It's way more comfortable, doesn't tramline any more and goes right where I want it. Very impressed!
