Tyre Profile Query

Why would it be over £140 cheaper for me to fit a set of 35 profile tyres to the rear of my E89 rather than the standard 30 - doesn't seem to make sense but maybe I'm missing something?20250730_195013.jpg

That does seem a bit strange when you're actually getting a bit more rubber.

Still it might not be a problem to go up one profile. I did that with the rears on my car and they worked just fine, with the bonus of making the speedo much more accurate!

Agreed I've done it before with a previous E89 but I just wasn't expecting to see such a large price differential.

Can you check a store that ONLY sells tires that are shipped to you? Maybe the extra cost is in the installation. The lower the profile, the harder it is to put on without messing up the wheels.
If you can find a mail-order tire store, then you can see if the tires generally sell for the same price or not.

As discussed on the other forum…E89 DSC unit can’t cope with significant dissimilar rolling circumferences …the stability control / abs will let you down when you need it most..you’ll need to go with a 40 profile if that’s your objective

Yep, I also think it is to do with common sizes and rarer sizes.

I just put a set of 205/65/VR15 on my car. They were Goodyear all seasons. Not a high performance tyre and a narrow width, but because it is an uncommon size for a car (common on vans apparently) especially being V rated, they were bloody expensive. £130 a corner!
