Tyre Prices

I browsed the 'net the other day looking for prices for my 19 rears - I nearly fell off my perch when £350 each popped up ! :o

Once mine are down to 4mm (means I can put them back on when I sell) I will swap them for non RFT filthy things!!

Fortunately there is still plenty tread at this time (only done 8k) I only do low miles so when I come to change in three or four years time I will expect £400 each!

And me a poor pesioner as well!

I had better start saving my winter fuel payments from that Mr Osborne fella. :)

I might go fornon RFT but if I sell to a dealer the rft; s I will have stored will be old - maybe ten years or more.

have a look on lovetyres. they have plenty to choose from. also I found that there about twice as many Y rated tyres than there are W on the market. meaning a top end speed of 186mph instead of 168... and they're cheaper than the W equivalents... not sure why but hey ho... its all good. you can even go for a 92 instead of 90 for load rating. or 90 instead of 88 at the front. shop around.. if you go for EXACT specs you should be looking at 250-300 new and fitted. you can get PS2s for 800 new all round.. rfts too.

Thanks for the replies, I am some way off (I hope!) for new tyres as I am a summer only / 5k a year merchant - I am just preparing myself for the smack in the wallet at a future date.

The pleasure is worth paying for in my opinion.

I got a full set of Vreds for £750 OEM CSL size

I put Vreds on my E85 and might do the same on the E89 when I get down to 3mm or so - mindful of the trade in situation when RFT's are required by the dealer.

have a read of this:

i priced them in the Uk and a full set was in the 600's. definitely what i will be replacing my 19's with in a bit

When did Vreds stop being a mid range tyre and decide they were a premium tyre?! when i fitted them to my E85 they were consiederd a mid range and priced about £50 for the set more than Fulken FK453s now they are (as already mentioned) the same money as PSS and Pzeros!

think i would probably go for fulkens when i am due to change. £620 for all 4 sounds ok to me. £850 for Vreds looks expencive by comparison

They may not be if tyre life is added into the equation!

I do know that they (from experience) last twice as long as the Pirellis on my Disco3

got a set of Vreds (wintrac Extremes) for my e70 from camskill, fabulous service 2 day delivery and well impressed with tyres so far. Been on the X5 for about 6 weeks now and coping well with the ice and low temperatures
