tyre prices / value

Hey guys,

Im in Aus and im looking at buying a new set of tyres (on the original run flats atm - switching to non-rf).

Looking at one of the following 3 options - price is also making a factor here im just wondering if the cost difference is really worth it!~

Mich PS2's fully fitted - $2386
Yoko V103 fully fitted - $1740 (has anyone tried these on their z4 yet?)
Falken 452's fully fitted - $1430

I've read over and heard great things about both the falkens and ps2's but not sure if the ps2's are worth nearly 1k more?
 
Translated in Canadian dollars that's about $480 per tire for the PS2. That's rather steep. :o Does this price include sales tax? The major complaint I've read about the Falken 452 is the noise. That said, the PS2 are most excellent. I personally don't have any problems putting $1800 worth of high performance tires on a CAD $65K car.

Whoa - the numbers for the PS2s seems way out of line. I paid $1000 US for a set of 4 PS2s (225/40ZR-18F and 255/35ZR-18R from Tire Rack) when I bought mine in May 2007. I think I paid another $90 for mounting and balancing on top of that for the set.
 
Can't comment on the prices - they are market specific so UK and US bear no relation.

Both the Falkens and Michelin are good tyres (never used Yoko's) so it's down to where you want to spend your money. 1 set of premium or a set of Falkens and a 'free' 2'nd rear set

I've never heard of any noise related problems that pmeloche refers to on the Falkens, but having fitted them can say they are way smoother and quieter than the old Bridgestones.
 
well i have just ordered a set of FK-452's and managed to get em for 1240 fitted and balanced - so a further discount! i'll let you know how they go!
 
wow quite a difference having had them on for a couple of days now! a lot smoother / quieter than my previous tyres, now just waiting for the run in period! been happy with the choice so far - just make sure you have an m wheel kit in case you get a flat !
 
They are good tyres, I've had mine on a few days now and the difference is good!

Very quiet now, but I've heard that they do get a bit louder towards the end of their life, but even if they get twice as loud they won't be much louder than a worn Bridgestone OEM anyway I wouldn't say... so hardly a worry point or decision changing concern.
 
I'm on Nitto Invo's. Super happy with them. And not too expensive either. I recommend. But the first week (during the break in period), they are slick. After that, they are great! :thumbsup:
