Tyre Pressure

I have recently bought BMW Z4 2.2i 04 Plate and changed the tyres from run-flat to Avon ZZ3 reinforced, front 225/40/R18 & rear 255/35/R18 but don't know what tyre pressure I should run them on, any thoughts please!

I am new to this forum so apologies if I posted this under wrong section.

When I switched to non-runflats I still kept tire pressures the same as what the door plate recommended. I haven't noticed any abnormal wear. I'm sure more folks will chime in with their experiences.

hello and welcome there is loads of good information on this forum i have falken fk452 on mine and run them 31psi front 33psi rears

Welcome to the forum. Avon recommend BMW 'handbook' tyre pressures although some experimentation can improve the handling and characteristics of the tyre.

Welcome.

When I changed the 17" tyres on my 120d I found that an extra 0.1-0.2 bar was about right. I did this on the 18" Z4 tyres but went back to the BMW pressure.

I run mine at about 34-35psi. Should I be wary of any change in wear patterns? Where would they likely appear? Worth dropping them a notch?

Over inflate - excessive central tread wear: under inflated side wall damage and wear at the extrem edges. An under-inflated tire has more rolling resistance which increases fuel consumption. It also creates more heat, which can lead to tire failure. If tyres are over inflated they start to bulge in the centre of the tread; the shoulders are no longer in proper contact with the road and the centre of the tread has to carry the entire load of the tyre. This is why over-inflated tyres wear so much faster in the middle.

I'd say that was too high and would drop them to closer to the 32 rear 31 front.
