Whilst driving today the tyre pressure monitor came on, checked the tyres, all ok.any ideas ???
P.S. what does the tyre pressure button do ??

Inflate all tyres and then push and hold it until it beeps or at least 5 seconds. Can't remeber if it beeps or not.

check your tyre pressures, if all equal, push the button for a couple seconds until the warning light goes from red to amber. drive for a couple miles and the warning light should disappear.

Hopefully it's nothing to worry about. In the 2 1/2 years I've had mine it did that once - no idea why!

The warning system in my first coupe was very sensitive - it would come on when I hadn't used the car for a week or so, and the difference in pressure would be minimal.

Still, at least I knew it worked!

The tyre pressure indication is activated when the wheels spin at different rates left to right. I think they work of the same sensors as the speedo. Basically when one tyre deflates, the circumference changes slightly, compared to the opposite tyre, hence the rpm varies. This is what is sensed and activates the lamp. :)

What buzyg says .....it activates on wheel speed difference .... the supposition that a deflated tyre spins faster as the circumference reduces with deflation.
Mine kept having a hissy fit every so often.
