Yes another tyre question, but this time i'm after advise on what tyres as theres so many good tyres out there. I know alot of people recommend falkens but arnt these a budget tyre? I love the levels of grip my T1-R's give me on my mr2.

Falkens for me to, they get fitted on friday. On standard bridgestones at the moment. Hopefully will reduce tramlining.

Toyo R888
Michelin Pilot Sport Cup
Pirelli P-Zero Corsa
Kumho V70A
Dunlop DZ02/3
Yokohama A048R
Avon ZZR

If you want grip then these will do you well. Not brilliant in the wet, but not as deadly as some would claim.

I'm currently running on Michelin PS-2s, but don't like them as much as the Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3s I had previously. The Goodyears were an incredibly grippy tire much more so than the Michelins in my opinion. I'll likely switch back to the Goodyears next time. However, both of these tires are a huge improvement over the OEM runflats. My 2 cent worth.

My experience has only been with the stock RF's which really suck and Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3s which are really great and IMO exceptional in wet conditions.

Interesting. I'm having the exactly opposite impression. :D Right now I have a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's as well as the Michelin PS2's. The PS2's grip tighter and give me more confidence to push my car than the GS-D3's. Albeit the GS-D3's are 235/265 and the PS2's are 245/275, but an extra 5mm (on each side) shouldn't have made that much difference. I also like how comfy the PS2's ride and how quiet they are.

The Goodyear Asymmetrics are said to grip even better than the PS2's. Although they're also bricks as well (+30lbs per tire). A lot heavier than the PS2's. The Asymmetrics are built for the Autobahn so high speed stability is probably more important to them than unsprung weight. The PS2's are not known to be that great at +150mph.

Btw, do you have 18's or 19's? I'm actually going to sell my very new GS-D3's (235/35/19 & 265/30/19) and replace them with 245/275 PS2's. Let me know if you might be interested.

Its surprising how much difference 5mm either side can make. My stock 185 width 14" yokos on the MR2 are loads more fun then my 195 15" T1-S's.

It's interesting that some tyres work better on some cars than they do on others. I wouldn't have considered Falkens on other cars but have them fitted to my Z4 after the reviews/comments on here. I also had the Prada Spec-2's on a previous car and rated them very highly despite not so great reviews of their wet weather performance, but have heard poor reports about them on other car brands.

I have Falken 452s which are a so much better than the stock bridgestone runflats. Better ride comfort and acceptable grip levels.

I choose the Falkens after hearing about them on this forum and I must say they are an Excellent tyre for the money when considering price and performance.

HOWEVER, in the wet I would rank them as good but not excellent. If you can afford it then perhaps you should consider spending the extra and go for the premium brand tryes

Safe drivin'

I plan to buy from ebay and get my local tyre fitter mate to fit them and the price difference between is £20-40 at the most for a full set. All come in under £250 for a set, apart from goodyears.

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 = around £350
Falken 452's = £212
Toyo T1-R = £243
Toyo Proxes 4 = £210
Yoko Prada Spec2 = £230
