After having 2 new rear tyres fitted the tyre symbol fault came on after driving a few miles from the garage, but did not indicate a particular wheel at fault.
When I got home and looked closely at my wheels I realised the wheels had been switched sides.
I was unable to complete an initialation of the tyre monitoring system so I took it back to the BMW garage who fitted the tyres.
The garage said this should make no difference switch wheels from one side to the other, but after removing the tyres and fitting the wheels back to their original side the fault has gone.
Was the BMW garage right in saying it makes no difference which side the wheels are on?
