Update, it went into a specialist today for them to have a look and they also agreed with other garages in saying its most likely the alloy causing the knocking.
Next step now is to get the split rim refurbed. I don't quite have the funds to do all 4 but will just get the bad one sorted first and see if that gets rid of the knocking.

Even before putting the wheel in for a refurb have you torqued up all the bolts in the split rim to make sure they’re not loose? It doesn’t take much movement to create a noise.
A slight aside, have you also got kwik fit to put matching tyres on the replacement wheel, as that’s what they were paid to provide

I've tried testing them for how tight they are before however I don't have a torx bit for a wrench or anything, only for a screw driver type handle.
And I've not had matching tyres done on the front yet as they have plenty of tread currently. It was just the rears that I got replaced.

Yeah I believe there are a fair few round the Loughborough area, just a matter of finding them I guess.
And the Area Manager for Kwik fit said that he would Axel match the opposite wheel once it has worn. But I'm tempted to get it done before then as its frustrating having two different wheels on the same axle.

Yet another update, I took the dodgy wheel this week to get straightened and Refurbed since the garages suggested having it taken apart and put back together. And the wheel specialist I used found that 9 out of the 20 bolts on the split rim were cross threaded. So to save myself money getting them all extracted they found me a used wheel on eBay that's never been taken apart so low chance of them being cross threaded for £160, and then it will be £150 for a refurb to colour match to what mine are.
The hope is that by getting a completely different alloy it should get rid of the knocking noise I was hearing.

Got a chance yesterday to swap the wheels back over to my 108s and the knocking noise has now completely disappeared from the car. Now I just need to ignore the other 3 alloys which were refurbed before I owned the car and hope they aren't cross threaded as bad.
