Tyre fitters

Ordered a set of falkens last week and need to get them fitted to a set of 108's currently sat in the garage.

Rang a few tyre fitters locally and mentioned I was worried about damage to the lip and corrosion issues as a result. One said he guaranteed not to damage the alloy and would charge £15 an alloy (Hi Q) but their machine was broke and to call back - called back Friday and was told by the manager that they were wrong to quote me and they wouldn't fit tyres not purchased through them.

Am I right to be paranoid?

Or should I just get car down to kwik fit and trust them!? Currently without a car till these tyres go on so could do with getting sorted.

(or if anyone can recommend someone local to Birmingham that's reliable)

Try an independent tyre fitter they will be glad of the work, had no problems when i had a set of Falken's fitted to my roadster. The big boys such as kwik fit and Hi Q are only interested in selling overpriced tyres :x
Who did you buy your tyres through was it Blackcircles or Camskill ?

Got the tyres through camskill.

Will have to have a butchers and see what local tyre fitters I have outside of national chains.

Never worried before but I've seen what a pain 108's can be!

Your not wrong to be paranoid, I hate getting tyres fitted but my local indi tyre fitter always takes care so I am happy to pay a few quid more for peace of mind

I always get the BMW dealer to fit them, £12 a corner.

Got one wheel refurbed so far as they damaged it. Think the battle with an independent would be a little harder ...

Glad to hear it isn't just me.

Hadn't thought of the BMW option.

Gives me another option - cheers

Who did you use for fitting and balance up this neck of the woods?

I want the runflats off an my set of Vreds putting on asap.
I'll want them balancing properly as well. ie balance to zero!
Last year I took the car down thro Germany and it was fine up to about 95, then a vibration started and it really didn't encourage anything over 125mph.

Hence I need a fitter I can trust to do the job properly!

Ah now Camskill - set of new tyres for my E92 coupe on 19" rims. Camskill £20 a corner more expensive than Quick Fit. Quoted Kwik Fit the cheapest I could find on the web - they matched it - 24 hour delivery! Once again too quick to condemn :poke:

As above - same price - thought it was a good deal.

Ended up using chemix - no damage too alloys so I'm happy.
