tyre disintegrating

Afternoon all.

Quick question.

What is the most likely cause for a front tyre to be almost finished and the other 3 to be mint still.

OSF looks like it's 3 years old and cracked and worn all the way down. Both fronts are the same tyre and were bought at the same time.

It's actually as some would say... fucked.

It's not toe or camber, it's knackered as evenly as can be. Almost like a winter tyre that's been tracked for days on end in summer.

May have been stored wrongly pre fitting, fx if it"s been under a stack of something else or even run over at one of it"s previous delivery points

When was it fitted? As above check if it's manufacture date is older that the other front.

Geometry out - either not set correctly or something bent. Wrong doesn't always a mean a tyre worn on one edge or the other or both tyres on axle wear out
Get it tested and then you'll know

As Cj says front geometry is quite likely,

Sadly some technicians will adjust track on one side only which causes some off-centering of the steering, 'pulling' to one side on cambers and scrubbing of the tyre. For some reason BMW front near side track rods are famous for seizing solid so prevent adjustment which is then done on the off-side only to 'get the job done'. I found this out on mine which had been adjusted by a bodger in my ownership causing steering issues and tramlining, when it was done again by a proper outfit they found the seized NS track rod was solid and had clearly not been adjusted for years so was replaced. The Tech suggested the NS may seize more because it's more exposed to water and crap in the gutter, it's one theory I suppose but apparently very common.
I'd get a proper 4 wheel alignment done when investing in new tyres

A worn wheel bearing can also cause tyre wear,I would have thought the noise a worn bearing gives off would make you investigate,The tyre could have been with low pressure causing it to overheat and damaging the carcus.
