Hello again,
Here's an up date on my search to find the best tyre as replacements on my 19" wheels.
After a lot of looking around, by trawling the internet looking at many suppliers for types of tyre, prices, sizes, reports etc. the best three tyres in my view were:-
Michelin Pilot Sport 4,
Pirelli P Zero and
Continental Sport Cont.6.
This was hardly surprising because they are the three that did the best on most tests and are pretty much what everyone was suggesting.
I don't however feel this was a waste of my time as it has allowed me to get a very good understanding of the product that I am fitting and how it performs.
I went for Michelin Pilot Sport 4s non-runflats and they were fitted two weeks ago keeping to the standard sizes ie. 225/35R19 88y front and 255/30R19 91y rear.
I paid £742.86 for the four tyres LESS a £25 cash back deal from Michelin on each tyre which made it £642.86. inc. vat and fitting and disposal.
That's:- £163.44 each for the fronts and £202.14 each for the rears.
Black Circle were at £ £151. 44 and £206.65 respectively.
At this larger size of 19" the tyres are of course more costly than the smaller sizes fitted on other Z4's but it is the rears that are the killer on price.
I could have possible shaved a another £20 off at Kwick Fit or National but I decided to buy and have them fitted at Cambridge Performance Tyres who have a great reputation locally, and nationally they are part of ProTyre. They provided a very professional and efficient service.
I have now covered around 500 hundred miles on the new tyres and it was definitely the right choice.
The car feels more positive to drive, what a difference the non-runflats have made with a much smoother and softer ride I can drive with confidence with no more constantly warrying about hitting pot holes.
I am defiantly not a aggressive driver but I do "enjoy my self" at times and although with me these tyres may not be driven to their full potential all the time I know they are there when required.
