Tyre Choice now the FK452 is no more

New tyre time has come around quickly - again.

Having run 3 sets of Falken FK452's it's time for a change and I have 3 possibles in mind:

The Falken FK 453, being the next generation of the 452
Vredstein Utrac Sessanta
Pirelli P Zero Rosso

Easy choice is the Falken, but I'm tempted by the Vreds as I recall some have great reports and not sure about the Pzero.
All are the same price so would welcome comment from any who have driven these tyres (or indeed another in the same price range at Mid £80 front and £120 rear

Wouldnt bother with the Rosso's the only pirelli IMO that i wouth bother buying is the original Pirelli PZero, and even then i would go for the GY Eagle F1 AS 2's over them.

Cant comment on the other two, but the Vreds seem to get a great review on her so i may try them next.

Another vote here for Goodyear Eagle F1 AS2, I've just got 2 fronts for £202 from Event Tyres, and changed the rears about 2 months ago. A much better tyre than the Falken 452 in my opinion.

Andrew.

Goodyear f1 asy2 on my 18" 108s and they are lovely. Good wet/dry grip balance and quiet too

Always used Falken on TT, 330 etc, just went for 453's on the Zed, cheaper the Vreds, but in my opinion just as good as 452s  :driving:

I've just purchased a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 Assy2s for mine; the dry performance is fantastic in my opinion. Far better than the (admittedly knackered) Falkens the car came on. I can't comment on wet performance really though, as although I drive it daily I only potter when it's wet! Road noise was also reduced in the Goodyears too...

Used the Pirellis previously, good grip, low noise but they wear quick. Vreds are my current choice, again good grip, medium noise but are wearing well. Bonus is the Vreds have a very photogenic tread pattern :)

Anything but the PZero Rosso - far and away the worst "premium" tyre I have ever experienced. Wouldn't buy them again if they were free.

If available in your size the Michelin Pilot Super Sport is fantastic.

Another vote for Goodyear Eagle F1 AS2. What made you omit them from your original list?

im guessing price, as they will cost more than the list above. Not alot more though for a tyre that it alot better

Yeah, from memory they're not a lot more, but they are significantly better tyres.

I got my Eagle F1s supplied, fitted & balanced for £545.00. Full set too; I was surprised given the Megane R26 I had before this was actually more expensive on tyres by about £100!

Where was that from mate?

Guys - some fantastic comment thanks.
Bogged down doing real work (the stuff that pays for the tyres amongst other stuff) so excuse the limited reply.

I'll certainly side step the Pirelli, consider the Vreds and the Goodyears as at £10 a corner more it's nothing and also the Toyo's
Thinking of skipping the Falkens as sometimes a change is good

A place called All In Services on the outskirts of Basingstoke. I'd never have known about them but for a mate with a Renaultsport Megane R26 who gets his tyres done there who recommended them and sorted me the price! Really friendly bunch, even made me a cuppa whilst I waited :) The owner has an M3 so inevitably we ended up talking cars for quite a while! I think he might've got a bit of a deal because he's a farmer and the farm do all their tyres through there, but you'd be no worse off giving them a call and seeing if they'll sort you out!

I have the Falkens haven't got a bad word to say about them. But i also wouldn't rave like the guys do who use Vreds do.

We have the toyo proxes on the TT now they seem a great tyre
