Tyre and wheel insurance

Never had this on any car before but my new zed has 19 inch alloys and 45 profile run flats which I'm sure will be expensive

Anyone any experience of this type of insurance?, what are the premiums? And is it worth it?

I paid about £250 for 3 year's of tyre insurance when I bought my Z4MC, and needed one about 2 weeks later due to a pothole slashing the side. Cost of 19" PS2 was £290 from the dealer, and they sorted it all out for me - including recovering me and the vehicle to a local (to my destination 150 miles away) dealer so they could fit the tyre.

Never had the need to use it again though, and it's now expired.

It wasn't a BMW policy, but something Specialist Cars were selling as an add-on - documentation says Specialist Cars and Auto-Protect MBI Ltd.
 
Because my car came with runflats which are hugely expensive i decided to have tyre insurance , had it through the dealer, BMW main agent for £290, the cover is for 3 yrs and covers you for 5 new tyres over that period, another reason was that the tyres had only recently been fitted so may as well use them for the next three years with peace of mind and and change to non runflats then.
One puncture and you got your money back.
 
I also had it when I bought my last Z4 as the company 3 series cars were getting punctures all the time.

Didn't get a puncture till 2 years alter after I have fitted normal tyres, but still managed to claim as it is "Tyre Insurance" and not "Run Flat Insurance"
 
Got a puncture in my 3 series at the end of my driveway last night. Someone's recycling had blown over and I hit a piece of glass without seeing it. Tyre pressure warning lit up this morning, 255/35/18 tyre with 5mm tread left, damaged beyond repair according to my trusted tyre guy. Wallet is now £287 lighter.

I wish I had tyre insurance, next time!
 
but is that not the case like any insurance, there are times that they won't pay up? where did I read that, can't remember but I am sure there was something in their terms and conditions that what is not included.

as always people will most probably complain or write a bad review, if they have had a problem. as you can see, other members here have had and used their insurance with no problem.
