Hi all-just been out for a hoon to try to make my emission light come back on so i can get a second opinion from another indy(re-cat failure),did not come on!

Andy - that's really crap mate, feel for you..... Hang on a minute - you had a good time and no random lights came on - yaaaaay ! :D

No clue Andy. When's your MOT due? You'll get an emissions test that would hopefully show up if it's failing

January-talk about being in limbo, not knowing either way! :headbang:

What's your normal driving style? If you're doing a lot of stop start, a good motorway blast might help...

Yeah normally,town- stop start, but the light seems to come on when i give it the beans on motorways etc, which i have done today but no light.

Sounds like more beans are the order of the day to keep the mechanic away.

Also, I thought all the faults were logged in he ECU, so get the mechanic to clear down any others then if it happens again will be easier to diagnose

Andy, buy yourself a code reader from eBay for about £30-35 and if this pesky light comes on you can read the code yourself as you did not seem to know what the code was when I enquired last week.

I brought this one:-

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Any-Car-Engine-Fault-Code-Diagnostic-Scanner-Tool-035-/220751856770?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item3365d60482#ht_6724wt_922

My son has one,i was just a bit hesitant to use it in case i accidentally wiped the fault (because it was booked in at indy)-but will use it next time it comes on.

They're very simple to use and it can even be used as you're driving in the 'live' mode not to be read by yourself of course, but by the passenger. It doesn't matter if you erase the code. Just remember what it is and tell the garage and they don't need to charge you again for using their diagnostic tool.
