I know that the pictures that show the "new Z4 or Z5", suggest that it will be a soft top convertible. However what if there are two different versions like the current miata? One with soft top and one with hard top. Which one would you prefer and why?

I like both but personally as my car is a weekend car/sunny day toy I like the speed and relative simplicity of a soft top....if the car was a daily driver then i would probably go the hard top route

I like a convertable to look like a traditional one with a soft top :D
A well designed one loses no space in the boot, to boot :P

Have to agree there was amazed at how little space the roof takes up when folded after I started seriously looking into buying a Z

If they could invent a soft top with a hard top type painted material then that would be perfect.

I hate fabric roofs as they get dirty and show up fold marks, seen on countless Z4's. The only way to get rid of these are to get new fabric. This cost me an absolute fortune.

The problem with hardtop's though is the lack of bootspace when retracted. As I use the boot to it's full potential quite often, this would annoy me greatly.

Hard top for me because it was the fabric roof that I disliked most about my Z4M but I appreciate traditional roadsters do have fabric roofs, and a folding metal one does add weight but to my eyes they look a million times better though.
