Two tone 103 wheels?

Hi all,

I have 103 wheels on my sterling grey car and generally I am pretty happy with them. I was wondering has anyone painted them two different colours before? Any hints or tips would be interesting to hear. I was thinking 108 wheel style initially. I appreciate masking would be required.

Also has anyone ever done bright brass, brass or gold wheels on a sterling grey Z4? If i go this route I would want a strong striking colour.

Mine are currently bright silver which I quite like. They have minor curbing on the wheels and few minor marks of wear and tear.

I have toyed with getting different wheels but I don't want to spend the money at the moment and I the tyres are on the rear are pretty much brand new. I also like the idea of a little home project.

The reason 108’s are often two tone is because they are splits rims, the two parts can be painted separately. This would be really difficult to do on 103s without some very accurate masking.

Surely the obvious choice would be yellow centres, white spokes and maybe a hint of pink on the outer edges: as per the daisies on my lawn. :D

Which you’re obviously offering to do as you’ve too much bl00dy time on your hands :poke:

Yes I am aware they are split rims which makes it easier to paint but there are lots other work to split them and these can be more prone to damage from what I have heard.

Regarding the colour; Replace yellow with gold and white with silver might be game on lol. I am not sure about the pink. Might clash too much with red tail lights.

Apologies for the flippancy.
I think the theory with split rims is you simply spray them as two separate bits then bolt back together, so no masking etc.
