Two post car lift

had this issue this weekend, had an exhaust issue,cracked flange. so left car up to my usual mechanic to have a look at it. He hasn't had to work on the z yet since only got it in june, he couldn't get it onto the 2poster, too low and mine isn't lowered, he couldn't even get a trolley jack under it.

said with the two poster arms where the mounting points under it are they're too close together the only thing he could've done was use the flat metal of the lift arms itself was was dodgy, so ended up having to go elsewhere to get the exhaust repaired by a guy with a 4poster.
 
A low level professional jack goes under no problems as do the arms on a two post lift. The jacking points are just behind the front wheels and two just in font of the rear wheels. Not sure what the problem is ?
 
I don't see the problem either. If you have a high bar between the 2 posts, then a couple of scaffold planks each side to raise the car slightly.
 
I can understand the problem. Both very low and the jack points close together.
A lot of 3000kg+ posts will not lift the z4.
My own 2 post lift just barely lifts the z4 (I have a Zippo lift); I had to get shorter arms. The posts are layed out conform the manufacturers floor plan. If you position the colums further apart (at the installation of the lift) the lifting of a z4 is easier, but you won't get to lift the maximum load and may have trouble with vans.
 
We have 2 ramps and my Z will only go on one of them....

Mainly due to arm height and arm spread....
 
I think he thought you meant you could only drive the car onto 1 ramp, i.e. one side of the car was lower and not clearing the ramp.
 
Stand corrected but the z ain't that low? Some older two posts may be less accommodating ! :-(

Yes, mine too, but at the minimum lenght they are just short enough to get the z in the air on the lift pads. The car has to be exactly in the middle (otherwise one arm is too long and another too short). When buying a lift it is something to look at.
