Tweeters fitted

Got hold of a pair of 4 series tweeters from ebay for a reasonable price and a nice easy job to fit and makes a huge difference to the sound

Do they fit directly into the blanks in the doors? Is the wiring there to plug into? Does anything need programming to make them work?
Can you tell I’m interested in doing similar?

They are a direct fit and they came with the wires which plug in to the main door speakers, no programming needed. If you look at realoem for the z4 tweeters it shows that they have been superseded and which other bmw,s they are fitted to

Tweeters make a massive difference, I was contemplating getting an amp and the speakers replaced, but the tweeters made such a difference that I haven't bothered (I did change the mids as well though). Still not very loud though, but good enough, my hearing is shot enough already.

I bought and fitted the Rockford Fosgate replacement door speakers (mid and tweeter), these are a straight swap and require no coding.

For info.......

OEM Tweeter is... 9220750 and readily available on eBay

Or if you have the Harman Kardon system then you need 9220751

Both sides are the same part number.

HTH

I changed my door speakers out with Mini ones and added the mini tweeters at the same time. made a big difference.
and the Mini ones are a lot cheaper than the Z4 ones the door speakers were a straight swap the tweeters need to be dremeled to fit, the size is correct but the mini ones have 2 slots and the holder in the z4 had 3 slots, so dremeled an extra slot in the plastic speaker housing
only took about 10 minutes each.

Would these fit into the E85 too

Mrs used to have a Mini Coopers S convertible but I was never impressed with the sound of the stereo. What year was that from?

not sure you would have to look realOEM to see. but the door speakers from a mini surprisingly are better quality than the ones i took out.

Rear speakers have an impeded/reduced signal from the fronts, unless you swap to using an amp with pre-outs any money you chuck on the rear speakers is basically a waste of time.

Just swap out the mids, footwell speakers and tweeters and you will have an awesome sounding setup. I power mine with a little blaupunkt amp, hertz speakers and focal tweeters. It's lovely and punchy, with deep bass and enough clarity to be heard well into very illegal speeds (apparently). If you need some staging then the crappy old rears can be faded in to give you a token gesture.

Price for all my stuff including fitting and sound deadening was £628

hey all.. possible stupid question, are there any guides out there on the forum for swapping speakers? did a quick search, but couldn't see anything..

Cheers!

A really effective youtube. Stopped me ever wanting to do it.

Not sure why if its only the door tweeters it only took me 10 mins a side

Agreed with jabber, although I still haven't got around to sorting this yet on mine it looks straight forward and you can see exactly what to do. I've had some really complicated door panels to take off before (and I'm no professional by any standard) so as long as you follow what is in front of you you can't go wrong.

Well, there you go now have Tweeters fitted. About an hour and all sorted, biggest problem was trying to find my long reach T20 driver for the passenger door handle which decided to vanish on me :x but all done in the end.
Very happy this morning driving to work, nice crisp sound as it should be.

Do you have part numbers for the speakers you had fitted?
