Tweeter Removal

thinking of swapping in some new components but was wondering how to go about removing the old tweeter. Does the door panel have to come off to take it off or is there another way of getting at it?

I removed mine and replaced with some Rockford Fosgate (50watt rms).
The first pic shows the RF's installed. This is a tricky install because of the way you have to remove the OEM tweeters. The other shots are of the OEM mount. It is held in by 2 pieces that have a "barb" one side. The fun begins when you have to remove the tweeter itself. It is held in by adhesive and by clips that surround the outside diameter of the tweeter case. I replace the screen as well. This is a tedious mod but well worth it if you have the right tweets: too bright and that is all you hear, too dull and you wasted your money. Hope this helps and good luck.

thanks for your help! a lot easier than I expected

Getting the old tweeter out isn't as easy as you think. Those German made sure it would get loose on us. Any idea which new tweeters you are going to install?

It actually pops off without removing the door panel. Pull out on the very top part until the top comes out about 1/2" and then pull up on the whole tweeter enclosure wedge to disengage the bottom clip.
