Turtle Wax Black Box

I'm cleaning my car this weekend - I was thinking of buying this, but have heard mixed things about it:

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_753637_langId_-1_categoryId_255233

Does anyone have any experience with the Turtle Wax Black Box?

Can the same affect, the "mirrored black glass" look be achieved by hand by other means? ie: without using a machine polisher or getting the car professionally detailed? If so, what products should I also consider?

Cheers!

Awful product. Tried it on my Range Rover Sport, and it sucked!!

I used turtle wax on my 3 series. Despite much elbow grease, it left permanent smears on the paint that were only visible in sunlight. Stopped using their polish/wax after that :(

Poorboys Black Hole (think that's the name) is what you want ;) Or some RaceGlaze

I'm sure there are others that do just as good a job...

This will be my next purchase, which will be lovingly followed by a coat of Dodo Juice Purple Haze wax... 2 coats if I can find the time.

The only products I'll buy from halfords are microfibre cloths and Megs stuff nowadays - and even they can be bought more cheaply if I plan ahead and do it online. Which I am crap at

+ 1 on the Poorboys Black Hole - not 100% on the name though - and the dodo juice (Black Hole works well on red cars too  )

i considered one of these from the halfords 3 for 2 range, but, being a tight fisted git and not wanting to fall for halfords cynical marketing, i couldn't find 2 other products i wanted anywhere near the cost to make it a genuine 3 for 2...

they're on e bay for about £19...anyway, i had a look at what you get and if you check out the sizes of the bottles you don't get much for your £25..and someone said it's s**t anyway!! they throw in a few rags to use it, but old jumpers do the same job.. :)

i just ordered some of the poorboys stuff (went to e bay again, the postage charge on clean your car etc is astronomical...) if this is as good as rumour suggests, with a detailing spray and a clay bar you should have enough to do the same to several cars' worth for your cash.

i have used the turtle wax extra gloss sealer wax, that's not bad stuff, it's a liquid so is easy to apply and doesn't smear your window seals etc.

I think I'll give up on doing it this weekend then and just order some stuff online, rather than using Halfrauds! Cheers for the responses, all.

just finished wth the poorboys, thoroughly recommended...did mine and a black mini, both came up extremely well.

a coat of wax and should be ok for a few weeks. :)

I've got the same problem after using some Turtle Wax. How does one go about removing these marks without getting too drastic?

I never really managed, there were still some marks when I got rid of the car. I reckon a rotary polisher will take the marks off
