Turnpike Meet - September 4th

Regarding the food/service. The full English was ok - its a bit hit and miss at the Turnpike, TBH I preferred the food at Anchor Inn Gargrave - it was a hotel buffet style 'serve yourself' breakfast: fried eggs, black pudding, beans etc. So the food was hot and you could select whatever you liked. The thing is, where else has an empty car park that we can fill with 25 Zeds like the Turnpike, and the central location for North West and South Yorkshire members? Its not all about the breakfast.

(Just read your post Taz - will email your vid  )

Yeah completely agree with you food was OK (TBH I'd say slightly overpriced for a smallish full English but definitely edible) the coffee was a bit of a joke this time, would have expected filter coffee or at the very least put it in a pot not just hot water and instant FFS....

BUT

  • The location is great,
Overflow carpark that we can take over is great,
Drive over the moors from Huddersfield way is great too!

Even if the food was crap (which it isn't) I'd still go back again for another meet in a heartbeat.... Just for the drive over and the fact we can get a good group drive coming from both Yorkshire and Lancashire it works

Thanks for the photo Taz, it's great ! With regards to The Turnpike Inns food/service/location the bacon muffins we had were ok but nothing special and the coffee was only instant which was disappointing. If they 'upped their game' a little then I would be happier with their pricing. However, the location is great and affords some good drives from both sides of the Pennines which makes for a good day out.
