Turning 30 next month - What next???

Just a tip, lots of investments skyrocket and people hang on to them , afraid to sell in case they "lose" a dollar of gain. The cardinal rule is to not get greedy. I use a 10% rule on the odd short term investment, if its up 10 sell it. You appear to be up about 800% . dump them and stop worrying. If it goes up after, so what, it could go down like Bre-Ex did.

Then put it in blue chip long term and breathe easy, you have a retirement fund most people can only dream of.

The stress is only there if you let it be there.

PS: Don't get a supercar yet, you'll worry too much about parking lot dents.... :D :D :D

If you do some research into his investment, you'll find that it was very risky at the start, and now as been mostly de-risked. He has also already stated that he has top sliced his profit to take out some money anyway. His current share of the company could be worth up to another 10x as much in the next few years if expert reports are correct :) I'm guessing that for someone who was willing to risk 95K on a risky investment, sitting in now with pure profit is a no brainer :D

Money can't buy happiness, but it does help!

When I'm feeling stressed and fed up I like to take it out on the Z4 or the gym. Sex helps too. It releases lots of feel good endorphins. Are you getting enough? ;)
So go to the gym/go for a run, rag the Z4 home and then get laid. Sorted!

Best advice ever given in a car forum! :driving:

going to the gym, then a run, what and the sex, omg

i would need a months break between each

best thing i ever did was charity work in tanzania, we all have spells where we feel a bit low, i can now slap myself across the face and tell myself how lucky i am

apparently i am in the top 10% of the world richest people

there are millions who would love what i have

You're up over half a mill after taxes,

Hello mcbeee old boy, IMHO he's a dreamer read his past posts
Hey Kryton,
We're all dreamers, I keep dreaming that I'm going to retire Nov 1st, 2012. No wait that's not a dream..... unless they piss me off a lot between then and now

So how is that new 35iS now that you have it broken in??? I bet you're loving it....

Fair enough about being in the top 10% of the worlds richest people. But you also live in one of the top 10 most expensive countries ! It's all relative in that respect. Some poor chap in india might be earning 4 quid a week,.but I bet he doesn't have a grand a month mortgage !

I'd love to chuck the job in and do something totally different, like volunteering, for a year. That's the difference a windfall would make to my life,..and stress levels (to get back to the original thread).

As for the Op. By the look your historic posts on other threads,..well one minute you were short of cash, then £100k turned up out of the blue which you invested and turned into £800k almost overnight. So extraordinary this is that maybe you should see it as some sort of divine message and fully financed opportunity to change your life...?

Yes you have to laugh don't you, had a good laugh reading his past posts to see how affluent he REALLY was, on the 3rd of April he could not afford £800 for a set of replica wheels

Damn..if only i had the readies
Beancounter1980

On the 5 March £1500 would seem to be a lot of cash for him

Re: CSL Alloys - Bargain or Not?
by Beancounter1980 - 05 Mar 2010, 14:09

Each to their own...

I could never justify spending £1500 on a set of genuine alloys. I would rather spend that money on food/clothes.

Now £495+VAT seems to be a lot of cash to him

MS Remap @ £495+vat = 255Bhp upgrade on a 2003 3.0i.....
by Beancounter1980 - 21 Oct 2009, 16:17

Including rolling road they want £495+VAT, plus i was told it was completely undetectable..

Anyway i still think that is a "good gain" on a NA engine. But i cant really justify the cost..

Sorry about that Beancounter but you had a good run :)

Jesus guys, the poor bloke's feeling a bit low and you react like this because he had a recent bit of success in one area of his life!?

Those past posts only show that he's careful with his cash, or sticks to a budget for his car. He even said that this has nothing to do with money!

He's at a massive turning point in his life, with the people you would normally look to at such a time having much bigger (health) problems of their own... I know I can see the stress in that.

And to talk about him like he can't read this is just fucking wrong.

Well, I guess this thread has taught a valuable lesson: Don't come to the members of the board with any problem, unless it's a broken spring or leaky washer bottle!

Tweed, where you say 'guy(s)' in the plural could you please read the various posts above carefully and then clarify who you are referring to.

Sorry, ferrelscent; you're quite right. I read this comment as sarcasm the first time:

But putting it in context and going back over your other posts in the thread, does seem more genuine. My apologies!

And actually... Reading back through the thread in a different frame of mind it does mostly read fairly positively. So please excuse my little outburst! Guess I must be stressed too :P

No prob at all.

As it happens I am in the same profession at Beancounter. I think the clue is in the name. So I know how being in this profession can be extremely stressful and can damage your frame of mind in your personal life too. I think this puts me on a good position to empathise with the Op.

I may come across as somewhat incredulous with regard to his unlikely run of good fortune. But that's probably down to me wishing the same would happen to me so I could go stacking shelves instead !

Ride it out and then get the kids - will give you a focus away from work/give you some perspective.
+1 - They bring their own stresses, but it certainly puts everything else in perspective. (p.s. I'd offer to lend you one, but they prefer coupes  )
Also, find someone else to count the beans - and if it doesn't add up when you do it the first time you can always delegate!
I get to borrow other people's during the week anyway!
