Hi All
has anyone tunned a 2.0?
i would like more power but love the car and dont want to change it,(the car is flawless), i was thinking of a turbo along with some other small stuff .

Any one point me in the right direction and what HP i might get out of the engine with out totally over doing it.

Cheers.

I don't think there is anything much you can do other than replace it with a six pot :D , dodn't know if changing the turbo would improve it to much unless you spend mega bucks. :x

r1andy - this post might be useful for you.

BTW have you tried high octane fuel? I'm a convert after trying Sainsburys 97 RON. Very noticeable improvement in pickup, throttle response, no flat spots. I'm astounded at the improvement as I wasn't expecting any at all. Only a penny or two more than normal unleaded!

Cheers,
John

Thanks folks for getting back to me

i was thinking more of around 300bhp+ with some sort of turbo/super charger , chip, remap .

not sure if this is possible but i have a few friends with massive HP from 2.0 engines,

cheers

Personally not heard of anyone making big hp out of the 2.0. Several have done it to the 2.5's and 3.0's

I know you say you don't want to replace the car but if you're seriously loooking for 300hp then it seems sensible to make the change to an ///M. You'd not only get the hp (and some more), but a complete set up from diff, brakes, engine, etc. to cope with it. I suspect you're mods would end up costing as much as the trade.

u r right and its prob the way i am going to go,
insurance and tax is hard on the M, but i am thinking of giving up the bikes after 20 years and need a bit of excitement in my life lol

What cj10jeeper has posted is entirely correct, you might as well trade in for sure. But what about the 3.0Si - don't think you'd be disappointed with that?

You reckon the insurance on a 2.0 modified to 300bhp would be much cheaper? It would probably be more!

I understand that you're attached to your Zed and that you feel it's 'flawless' but there will be plenty of /Ms out there in just as good condition.

Or an Alpina

In this day and age any heavily modded vehicle is going to get seriously caned on the insurance front - the 2.0 does a great job for what it is if you are just a hardcore ragtop-lover who wants fun at a reasonable price.

Its quicker, cheaper and easier to just buy the bigger engined version if what you're really after is ball (and wallet  ) busting performance. :)

X 2

Completely agree with Wondermike and cj10jeeper... another point to add is that you will not get the money that you put into the upgrade back when or if you decide to move it on in the future... like you said, your car is a minter so now is a good time to sell and upgrade to a 3.0l or even the 3.2 - best of luck with your decision either way

Its also a balancing act remember. I've got a friend running LPG injection on big turbo diesel engines in 4x4s and getting excellent results (and I bet you never even knew you could do that). But is it reliable? Is it feck.

The general rule of thumb for an OEM turbo install seems to be about 50% power increase, so 150 goes up to 225. The fact that the 2.0 is an already efficiently tweaked (OK Big Boys, relative term!) variant of the standard 320 engine from Ham Hall supports empirical evidence that chipping/air filters etc.. adds little more than a few hp, so realistically, without going bonkers (and reducing longevity/reliability in the process) you'd struggle to get near 240/250bhp I suspect.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong - I was once before and my wife never let me forget it
