Tuning box

My G29 is 2.0 3.0 258 bhp has anybody on the forum fitted a Bluespark or Dti tuning box if so are they worth purchasing for my car or should I leave it standard?

Personally if it was me I’d get a competent tuner to do a decent job..those boxes are fudges at the end of the day…

I was only thinking about a tuning box because I’ve still 15 months of a used car BMW warranty for what it’s worth.

The BMW garage will ‘see’ you’ve fitted a tuning box almost as easily as a re-map…even after you’ve removed it..manufacturers have long got wise to these issues…

Whether they’d refuse a warranty on a non powertrain item is a mute point.

Especially on auto powertrains tuning boxes aren’t a great idea as by their very design they are ‘fooling’ the engine into given more power..that ‘fooling’ means the auto box is getting wrong power data ..not a bright idea..

B21 thanks for your advice. The 3.0 doesn’t appear to gain much power increase on being remapped other than improving the power delivery from the turbo. I think I will leave as it is.
Cheers

Agreed. The B48 in 30 guise will only get around 8% increase in bhp and torque (and don't forget ALL figures are quoted using the highest octane fuel).
Not worth the potential aggro with insurance, warranty or an potential issues with the mapping IMHO.

It’s never going to be as rapid a the BMW 140i that I had 4 cars ago or my sons M4 with larger turbos with boot mod 3 which is decatted running in excess of 650 bhp.

I remapped my 20i up to 300bhp ,with very smooth power delivery throughout the gears.
