Yeah, me & RW have a right larf. He's a top bloke with a wicked sense of humour

(he is CRAP at pool though :lol: )
It all started with me regulator cable eventually snapping one night on the way ome from wok. So googled it & searched the cherished forum for answers and got some great help from here.
First attempt;
Took the door card off. Disconnected the earth lead from the battery & disconnected the airbag, then followed instructions from vids and advice from here. Took the regulator indoors to wok on it with the new cable in hand. Followed the video to a tee, then reinstalled it.
RW was on hand with help & encouragement (NOT!!!) with camara in hand. the first film shows what happened.
Second attempt;
After the first attempt shredded the cable again, i assumed it was my failure to do the job properly. So ordered another cable & a wik later did it all again

SAME AS BEFORE :x
Third attempt;
Took it all back out & indoors. This time i was determined to beat the b@stard :x So mended the shredded cable as best i could & carefully & methodically did it again. Got everything tight as i could, the cable was neatly tight around the spool and secured back in the holder.
Fitted back in the door. Then......... THE SAME AGAIN GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!! (by this time i just gave up
Fourth attempt;
Ordered a new ready to use OEM regulator from BMW, £160 with free postage
It came in 2 days. Excellent service from them.
Fitted it Friday night after wok in 10 mins. (By this time i know the job inside out :lol: ) JOY OH JOY! it worked perfectly

Then cracked open a can & stood back thinkin, why oh why didnt i just get a new one in the fost place.
So if this ever happens to you, DONT attempt to fit another cable. Just order a new regulator and fit it yourself. I will gladly help anyone out with this, if it happens & need help.
Cheers, tug
