TT for a Z4

As a E89 and TT driver (wife has a TDI) I can tell you that more people will want to race you in the zed than the Audi.

Gets boring, spotty faced youths with baseball caps in hot hatchbacks and skinheads in white Transit vans all think they can burn off the zed at the traffic lights. I usually let them get on with it.

I've had two E89's and had no trouble with either, build quality or mechanical wise.

I always say you hear about the few bad cars rather than the hundreds of good cars.
People don't come on here to tell us how they've had no trouble, they come on when there's a problem usually so you get the wrong perspective imo.
 
i considered a TT when i was buying my new car....but to be honest having driven both build quality isnt a difference i noticed (i've had 2 audi's in the past too)
of course i'm biased...but the TT is just too common for me...and getting the roof down (especially cause its a hard top which gives the best of both) makes all the difference.
a TT doesnt turn heads like a Z4 does either!
 
Iv had my TT since March from new. Im bored already! I'm picking my Z4 up beginning of Sept.

From a drivers persprctive it will never be as good as a rear wheel drive car so hence the move. Also the steering is too light for me.

+ I wanted the top down and im not sure a guy in a convertible TT does much for street cred, lol ;)
 
See if you can test both a 20i and a 28i. I bet you go for the 28i if you can find one for a decent price.

The 20i auto is a bit slower 0-62 than the manual version as well. In 28i guise, both the manual and auto are the same in terms of 0-62 performance.

And also try both the non-M sport and M-sport versions - the suspension is firmer on the M-sport. Some like it (I do) and some don't. If you don't like it, you can order an M-sport in terms of the looks but with the M-sport suspension deletion. However, that also raises the ride height slightly, which you may or may not like.

I agree too regards the steering aswell it doesn't instill confidence & even though ours is a quattro because its a FWD biased system it just ruins any flow around corners anyway & just understeers, on paper it should be a good package as 272bhp 0 to 60 in 5.2secs & 4wd should be pretty exciting but it just isn't, which I think is a shame.

This is what I found Lee. I had a TTS on loan for a week and for the first couple of days I though it was great. Quick off the line, nice inside, looked fine but by the end of the week I was bored with the dull sounding engine and the lack of excitement. It just wasn't much fun to drive other than for rapid straight-line acceleration runs.

I spent all day driving the TTS yesterday & the one thing it does do is make me appreciate the M3 a hell of a lot more & I know it's not a totally fair comparision but the M3 just does everything so much better & just feels like a genuine driving machine when you want it to be.

As you say it's incredible how quickly you get bored in the TT there isn't any depth to the driving experience at all whereas the M3 just gets better the faster you go & the more you grab it by the scruff of the neck. :driving:
 
i ditched my TT 225 after I found out it has front wheel biased 4 wheel drive and got beaten by 530d on lights .... now RWD and would never swap back ... :P :driving:
 
One thing I will also add is after using both the TT and Z4 forum, the Z4 owners are genuinely more polite and friendly :)

I still keep thinking about joining the TT forum but haven't, this forum seriously takes some beating & that's all down to its members, great bunch. :thumbsup:
