Trying and failing to chase an M

Hi all,

Once again another video from Castle Combe where I try, but fail, to keep up with Tom in his glorious M Coupe. I wouldn't expect it to be any other way given the weight and spec differences between the cars, but it's still fun to try. Tom kindly chucked me the keys and wow, it's a good reminder of just how brilliant Z4M's are, it truly feels race car like, even more so now you look through the rear mirror at a cage, with hugging Tillets pinning you in place. I've said it before but if I ever get bored of the Corvette I will be coming back to Z4M ownership (a Roadster, naturally :poke: ).

Cheers, Dave

Very cool - bet the corvette is a right hoot to drive too!

Cheeky question, but don't suppose there's any footage from Tom's car? And any pics of his tillets and cage?

I can confirm Tom’s car is proper quick.....and a reasonable driver to boot :D Was a great experience to be a passenger in a properly sorted M with a great driver giving it some...just need Tom and Dave to give me some lessons now

I would have taken some video from my phone but was told not too, plus I was clinging on to the seat anyway so  Sure Tom will oblige though.

That ‘vette is a stunner as well!

It looks like you had a great day out - much better than going to work on a Monday!

I don't think there was that much in it Dave, your car has certainly improved a huge amount since I drove in it last.
Love how they go about the performance in a very different way, the torque of your motor is quite addictive!

Cheers Andy, good to meet you and glad you enjoyed it, shame the tyres were a bit past their best. Dave's your man for instruction, I believe he is/was an ARDS qualified instructor, but I'd be happy to try give you some pointers if you join one day.

I dug out the footage of infront and behind dave. Excuse the laggy data and some rather duff driving, I was about to come into the pits after my usual stint length when I spotted dave so the tyres were, shall we say, sub-optimal :)

some pics of the cage, just working on getting the rear nicely trimmed now.
cheers

Ugh you're giving me naughty thoughts about cages now Tom, that looks ace! And those tillets look like they give much better leg support than mine  beaituful stuff mate. I'll check the video when I get out of work later 8)

Love those seats - can I ask what they are?

They are tillett b6 screamers, I'm really liking them, better than the sparco I had before and fit in the cabin nicely unlike most buckets.
The issue with them is they are not really suitable for use with a 3 point belt and most likely why the previous owner of ed's car fitted b2 (I think they are?)seats.

I don't have any more mods planned for now, so the car is as good as it's going to get for a while.

I too had been out for a while and was on my cool down laps when you appeared, so thought it would be rude not to give chase, hence why I then got told off by the Chief Marshal for having too long a stint (on an Open Pitlane day  ). The TPMS was flashing warnings saying the left side tyre pressures were too hot whilst we were chasing about (40+psi). :driving:

Mine are B5s - they're fab but they lack a little hip and leg side support compared to yours which is slightly frustrating. I do have 6-point Schroth harnesses though with mine, I've tried them once (not managed a trackday this year due to other commitments sadly) and they certainly hold one in well!
