Trunk opening (from the keyfob)

Hello,
I have a question regarding opening the trunk from the keyfob.
If the car is locked, the button on the remote won't work, while if I unlock it and I press the release button on the keybof, the trunk unlocks and slightly opens. But this is just useless, since if the car is already unlocked, I can just press the trunk badge to open it, with completely no advantage of unlocking it from the remote!
Do you know if is it possible to unlock the trunk only while the car is locked? I did work this way with my 1 Series...

You could do that on the pre facelift E85 and it stopped with the facelift....

Its a good safety feature IMO as it stops you locking the keys in the boot

My facelift si would unlock the boot via the fob even when the car was locked :?
