Trunk lock on 2009 BMW Z4 Keeps engaging

Hey Folks,
I have a 2009 BMW Z4 and the trunk keeps trying to close after i close the trunk. The actuator keeps Cycling the trunk latch and just constantly recycles after I locked the vehicle...
Can anyone point me in the right direction for the repair?

The cables that connect the actuator to the rest of the car are probably broken…search this forum for broken boot lock
 
I am having the same problem, and I can’t find any broken wires. Last time I checked the actuator to look at the wires the boot would close but the soft close wouldn’t engage. After I reassembled everything, now the boot doesn’t close or soft close. Any suggestions?
 
Thanks guys. I will give it one more try. By the way, I was having trouble detaching the wiring connectors from the actuator so I gave up. Is there some trick to it? Here is a picture.

The connectors are standard automotive connectors - may need a small screwdriver or a squeeze depending on the type.

Regards the wiring - in the boot it is usually damaged somewhere that it bends along the run. If you expose the wires from the wrapping, it will be obvious & you will find somewhere with insulation that has worn away & exposed the inner cable, or an actual break (less likely).

With it all wrapped up, you will struggle to find it.

The good news is that the damaged area is usually pretty easily accessible & a simple fix once found.

Breaks next to the plastic housing on the switch.
Every cars switch will break same place due to makers making a cut in the insulation in the wrong place.

I guess the wire maker put in the wrong trim cut, now all cars have weak wires, unless later cars the mistake was spotted and corrected.
 
Funny about broken wires, friends Tesla seems to have the same wire as our Zed roofs.
Breaking in the connector bellow to door, in his case stopping rear door opening.
