Trunk access

My trunk lock cylinder appears to be stuck and I am unable to open the trunk. I would regularly use the key to open the trunk and connect the battery in order to drive the car ( it intermittently kills the battery if left connected ). I have tried connecting a battery to the booster terminals under the hood with jumper cables and pressed the interior trunk release button without success. I have saturated the lock cylinder with WD-40 but it hasn’t freed up.
Are there any tricks to getting the trunk open?

I'd keep trying the lock barrel with the key to see if it free's up. Next I'd try charging the battery via the hood terminals, then try once recharged. Finally I'd start taking out trim to get into the back from the front, swearing profusely whilst subsequently breaking things and damaging the skin on my hand.

But thats just me, and I'm sure those more knowledgable will be along soon to tell you hows its done.

I have been spraying the lock cylinder for about a week prior to my posting. Still not sure why the interior release button wasn’t working when I had a fully charged jumper battery connected to the boost points under the hood, I will investigate that further. I was about to begin disassembling the interior, and yes there would have been lots of swearing, when I tried the key and had success. I found a YouTube video that showed good detail of the release mechanism. My emergency trunk release handle works properly, I am thinking of attaching a pull string to it and running it to the interior for ‘next time’.
