Trickle Charging

Roberto; as usual you are the voice of reason, and for that I salute you. I had a Mazda a few years back that made a big fuss about "regenerative braking" (it even showed it on the screen when you braked) but the stop-start was s*it and rarely ever worked :o

I recently recon’d my father-in-laws battery after a period of no use. I disconnected it from the car completely and let the ctek do it’s thing. I figure a battery is a battery and ctek spent time making the ‘smart’ charger so it’s thing. Having the IBS in the loop at the same time seemed to be too many cooks…..

You can still use the ctek with no issues, just use the engine bay connection points

On a similar note. Like many Zeds mine is not used on a daily basis, more like once/twice a week for what can be relatively short journeys, it doesn’t live in a garage so constant trickle charge application is not really practical. So how often is it wise to hook it up for a CTek charge (from under the bonnet :D ) to keep everything ticking over and hopefully avoiding well documented potential battery related issues. I guess battery age and other factors form part of the equation (mine is a year old) but in general terms is it wise to do it say weekly, monthly, quarterly?

You could try connecting a solar charger & monitoring the battery voltage once a week to see how it copes? :?
