Trickle charging during winter

First winter for the 2023 Z4. Getting ready to hook up a trickle charger. Just noticed that the negative battery post in the engine bay is actually outside of the bay, almost on the wall on the passenger side (see picture). No space to hook up an alligator clip of the CTEK charger/maintainer because of the hood. Has anyone come across this issue? Any solutions?Z4 Neg Term.jpg

When the battery died in my Z4 I had to use a starter pack to get it going. The leads on the pack were quite short so I connected the negative one to the top of the fixings on the end of the diagonal braces and it worked fine.

I would have thought it ought to work for charging too.

Anyway welcome to the forum, and please post a photo or two of the whole car!

Any ground point will do. Front suspension bolt mounts are good. You will know if you have a good earth, as the charger will work.

"alligator clip of the CTEK" has no issue at all even when you fully lock the bonnet. If you use those jump start alligator clip, then it's too big.
