Whats the best trickle charger to get for my 3.0i ? despite all my intentions of keeping it outside and giving me my garage space back it now lives in the garage ( cheaper than buying a hardtop for the winter ).

CTEK by far the best........

Thanks fot that - Noticed on your signature you've got "turbines" the same as me - I quite like them despite their apparent lack of popularity - I was thinking of changing them but like the fact they are original to the car ! Noticed also you hail from Somerset - we used to live in a tiny village just outside of Glastonbury some years ago - lovely part of the world.

Shop around for the CTEK, the one from Halfords is about twice the price from what you need.

I have 3 XS3600 units, paid £50 - £60 each from Ultimate finish.

I also have the CTEK from Ultimate Finish. Great piece of kit. Not sure what the difference is but it can also look after motorcycle batteries etc. and given time, I think 24hrs it can re-charge a discharged battery. Highly recommended.

I have used a CTEK XS 3600 for over a year now with no problems, it keeps the battery in good condition. My car is also garaged and I found it easier to connect via the terminals under the bonnet.
I purchased mine from Amazon UK, the current Amazon price is £44 (free postage) from BCT.

Another vote for ctek - 800 this time. Excellent bit of kit kept my Lotus battery in top condition whilst I was away.

I had been looking for a trickle charger (float charger) for my Zed, and chanced upon an AccuMate (6/12) while wandering around the local car supplies store this afternoon. The box is a bit faded and beat, looking as though it has been on the shelf for quite a while, but the contents are pristine. I guess the locals prefer to purchase locally made stuff (even though it's pretty much all made in China these days anyway), but I remembered hearing good things about this unit so I grabbed it. It had been marked down a bit, too: the price was JPY 3,980, which is equivalent to about 33 British Pound Sterling. Decent deal?
