Trees don't move

Found this yesterday down a Lincolnshire country lane. Not good shots due to Blackberry phone camera. But I had my son with me who has only been driving for about a year. It did help me instill into him what I have always been telling him. Trees do not move for you!

Shame about the car, I hope the driver was OK.

On the other hand its pretty handy to show that to your kid. It can happen to anyone and it does even on a straight-ish road on a sunny day driving at 60mph - you've all seen my avatar right

The very first day I took my lad out for a lesson, I drove to a local road where a 17yr old lad had hit a tree a few days previous. He died on impact unfortunately. But as we pulled up the road towards the tree, a large group of his friends were laying flowers and in tears.
Matthew told me yesterday, that he hasn't ever forgotten that scene and says it's the one reason that he still doesn't drive fast. He even "lets old men in caps" overtake him. His words. :D
I'm happy for him to continue that. Get some experience and only get quicker with age and experience.

I will show this to my lad too

You can show them mine too. 3 rolls! Got a very lucky escape. Notice the drivers side (LHD) :o . I got off because I set ly seat far back and well low. No lasting back injury because it was fairly upright (lanky frame and rear wheel drive driving position from habit).
