Treatened petrol tanker drivers strike

Just heard on BBC news that tanker drivers are paid only £45K per annum. With such terrible exploitation, no wonder they feel they are justified holding other motorists to ransom :headbang:

Hope panic buying does not spread - as seen in previous times, it can leave people who really need to fuel, such as nurses or people on shift work, or visiting the sick / elderly, unable to fill up at petrol forecourts because of idiots who are selfish.

Storing in a house, what idiot would do that. *Shaking head.
 
Good old DC was quoted as saying that HE can see "absolutely no reason to strike at all"! And this right before he intends to meet with the drivers... Nothing like entering negotiations with an open mind :x

This is correct in my view as well , I have some clients who are professional drivers and this is what I have found over the years with personal financial reviews. Now some of them do "Euro" trips and there closure 30kish work Mon-Fri away from home type thing

I just cannot see how these drivers pick up 45k a year, when everyone else in the same profession picks up much less see very unfair if this is the "actual" case.

Or in fact a very small % who have worked for the same company for 40 years and there it just increased over time...but the media jump on it to turn public pressure against the drivers/unions. This is typical media politics’ ... basically the readers are being played!

Same trick on teachers , nurse , police any anybody who they want to crush public view on

That's exactly what i was thinking.

Although, i've had to tell my fiance to fill up today as she does a lot of mileage for work and the other panic buying dickheads are using up all the fuel for no reason! :x
 
At least I filled my 60 litres of diesel in jerrycans before the panic started as I use it for the tractor. Would have looked rather bad if anyone would see me do that now.

I think it's because of the relatively dangerous work that these guys have to do.

The strike isn't about their pay though. It's about how the drivers are being forced to cut corners on safety procedures. Drivers now have 15 minutes from the moment they get on to the forecourt to switching on the pumps to deliver the fuel.
