Treated myself to a nice everyday watch

Glad I'm not the only one that saw the OP and went looking :D

Just can't decide which to go for.......the 510 (OP's) or the 500 (green second hand) .

Think price might win out eventually! Cheapest I've found for the 500 is £260 I think, makes OP's a steal

For those that have them already, have you used the app with it yet? The reviews I've read so far aren't particularly favourable.

Nice timepiece

I have one of these,

capture screen

But, I accidently screwed the time setting don't know what I did but when I try and reset it to London time it seems to be a couple of hours out, I've tried it countless times but have to say its one of the most complicated of watches to set the time with which at the moment is useless :(

Tim.

Just had a look in H.Samuels, mmmmmmm NO, as a gadget probably perfect for some but dont feel the need for that one.

You download an app that let's you set the times or alarms on your phone and it Bluetooth's it to the watch. You can also press a button on the watch and your lost phone bleeps. Its solar powered as well!! Btw I've got a shed load of links if your bracelet is the same. I think it was made for an elephant as the shop took 4 links out when I tried it for size. I bought my son an edifice for christmas last year and I always liked it. Bargain at Samuels at £159.00
Thanks for the kind offer but my bracelet is different - doesn't have the polished centre link bits. Ta for explaining the bluetooth function. I love mechanical watches, but am a gadget geek at heart so can't help picking up watches like this  . Love 'em

Hi, I am also into mechanical watches, been collecting for some time now.
Is there many vintage traders in your part of the world ?? I did look on the main
sites but NZ rarely appears. Always on the lookout for these models if you see any ping me.
Do you have anything in particular you look for ?? I"m usually swapping or trading up where I can.
regards Stan

A few years ago there was an antiques store that had vintage watches just down the road from where I worked. I passed on a beautiful 60's Omega Constellation and another Omega Dynamic, which smarter people snapped up while I dithered. Since the quakes of 2011, the building has gone and I don't know if that trader is still around (must try to find out). The market's very small here, but the only hope is that that means far fewer people know what they're looking at, and the opportunity to pick up a great deal may be better.
I don't recognise that pepsi-dial diver in your pic - looks a bit like an Autavia, but the dial marking is clearly different. What is it?

To everyone who has posted about their new watch in this thread - don't forget there's a running thread for watches here as well:

On the bandwagon here

Fancied a new watch for a while but struggling with silver after my black seiko

Cheers

This is great - makes a change from us all rushing out to buy the latest piece of plastic or gizmo for our cars

Hope mine arrives at the shop tomorrow, can't take waiting until Monday !

Hi, yes well spotted. Nivada Grenchen is the mark on that one, that and a few others had watches made by/via Heuer and the GMTs sub division is what I look for. I have a few and obviously collect when I find them, just not laying around every where.
You can look at on the dash .com for info on Heuer and look at my other msgs re watches on various sites where to look buying/selling.

My Tag has a 'starring' role onthe Calibre11.com website in an article about the Spirotechnique partnership with some watch brands (Tag, Doxa, etc) back in the day  Warm fuzzies

Damn you guys for posting all the pics of that Citizen - I feel a new watch 'hankering'....

Was looking for something for the wife to get me for my birthday back in November and found this, which I am very happy with, and it fitted straight out of the box, which never happens, usually have to wait for extra links.

Yep I know the Calibre 11 site, lots of good solid info. I think Hong Kong is probably the nearest to you as regards vintage watches, large amount of everything, traders and collectors, feel like travelling now just to go have a look :( still got things to do here
